2007 honda transmission fluid change3/2/2024 ![]() I also keep the vehicles a long, long time so to me this is cheap insurance. My '20 RTL-E tows 4000lbs and in the mountains, a lot- and its going to get its 2nd tranny fluid change soon (shopping fluid prices now), and its at 42k miles. ![]() For whatever reason and not worth expending my mental energy on- they work far better with Honda fluids and prefer frequent fluid changes. Tried using one of the premium 'performance' MT fluids in a Civic, and it performed terribly. They seem to be the opposite, the more frequent the changes with Honda fluids, the happier the tranny is. I have not seen this in any 'more modern' Honda MT nor AT, having owned many of them from the mid 80s to now. Transmission fluid change of 2003 - 2007 Honda Accord is by drain & refill method recommended by Honda (A transmission flush should not be done). If you are having problems with the transmission in your Fit, such as clunky shifting or hesitation, check the fluid level first - it is amazing how many drivers pay thousands of dollars for transmission work when a half quart of transmission fluid would have fixed the problem.The old school, pre-Honda was more of a mindset of if there are no tranny problems, do not touch the fluid and in fact introducing new fluid to an old, crudded up tranny could create issues. When adding transmission fluid to your Fit, be sure to add it slowly as it will fill up quickly and is difficult to remove excess fluid if you overfill. If the transmission fluid level in your Fit is low, you need to add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube or the check plug hole. Use Honda DW-1 or even Valvoline MaxLife Dex\Merc atf or another high quality 'compatible' synthetic atf. The new atf should slowly start cleaning up some of the deposits in the tranny and doing that 3rd and 4th one down the line will help clean out that stuff. Put a new washer on the filler bolt, then reinstall the filler bolt and tighten it securely. That will give you around 90 new fluid total. ![]() These are manufactured to the same high-quality standards as the original components, so you can be confident of their performance and durability. If it is not, add Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) until it starts to run out of the hole. The transmission check plug will typically be on the bottom or the side of the transmission and may also be next to the axle. Honda parts and fluids whenever you have maintenance done. The transmission dipstick will typically be in the engine bay or on top or even the side of your Fit transmission. Your Fit will have either a transmission dipstick or a check or fill plug to perform a transmission fluid check. The video above shows where the transmission fluid dipstick or the transmission fluid check plug is located in your Fit and how to check the transmission fluid level. The engine in your 2007 Honda Fit should be running when you perform a transmission fluid level check, otherwise it will be inaccurate.
